Alexandra Imelda Cecelia Ewan Burke was born on 25th August 1988. She is a singer who struck fame when she was crowned winner of the fifth series of The X Factor and won a £1m contract with Simon Cowell's music label.
Alexandra had previously auditioned for the 2005 series of the show, where she reached the last seven in her category but was not selected for the live shows.
She broke the European record for single sales over a 24-hr period in December 2008, selling 105,000 copies of her debut single, "Hallelujah". The song went on to become the Christmas number one single of 2008 and sales passed 1 million by early January 2009.
Her debut album, Overcome, was released in October 2009 and entered the charts at number one. Since the launch of Alexandra as a singing sensation she has enjoyed a total of seven non-consecutive weeks at Number 1 on the UK Singles Chart and has been nominated for two BRIT Awards.
